Oxfordshire Development XI were made to work hard for their runs on day one of their Tom Orford Trophy clash with Buckinghamshire at Queens College.
Scoring wasn't easy in damp, overcast conditions and Oxon will have to bat well today if they are to set Bucks a decent target.
Having lost the toss and unsurprisingly being inserted, Oxon saw opener John Barrett, last week's centurion, and No 3 Jonno Evans both caught behind inside 12 overs.
Jamie Perkin faced 27 balls before being snaffled at leg slip, but Chris Sandbach and Shahbaz Ali dug in for 29 and 37 respectively.
Shahbaz was unluckily bowled by a delivery, which nipped back, while Paddy Stern battled hard for 16 from 76 balls.
Captain Chris Watling and Cumnor's Morteza Ali were both 19 not out at the close and will look to stay around today.
