Husband and wife Andy and Caroline Johnson celebrated a notable double by landing the men's and ladies' championships at Chipping Norton.

Caroline successfully defended her title with a one-shot victory over junior Clare Reynolds having beaten her by 17 strokes last year.

Andy edged out Andy Perrie in a play-off to complete a red-letter day for the couple.

This was the first time Chippy have combined the two 36-hole championships over one weekend.

Rounds of 80 and 82 were enough for Caroline to retain the trophy, although Reynolds had led after a first round 76.

Her husband and Perrie finished all square on 151, one shot ahead of junior Danny Phillips, before edging home.

Jill Woolley pipped Sue White by six strokes to land the ladies' handicap title, while Mark Jones beat Steve Lydiatt by seven to claim the men's event.

Meanwhile, Chippy's professional, Neil Rowlands, enjoyed one of the best wins of his career in the Jamega Tour event at Collingtree Park.

Rowlands was two shots behind going into the final day, but a four-under-par total from rounds of 67 and 69 won the day.

  • It also took a play-off before Mark Oliver was crowned men's champion at Burford.

He and Andy Barnett had finished tied on 149, while Tommy Potter edged out Simon Hopkins for third.

Joe Townsend won the handicap event, the Robin Cup, by three strokes from Tom Dexter, who was two ahead of John Cavanagh.

He had a few wobbles in the final round, but a 74 was plenty to see him past Josh Kensit (Richings Park).

The Wychwood's Rob Knight won the nett prize for the best afternoon round.
