Henley Hawks overcame the heat and London Scottish to win their opening pre-season fixture 19-12.
With temperatures in the 80s, the Dry Leas clash was a warm up fixture in every sense of the word.
The first quarter ended scoreless, but Hawks went ahead in the second when Liam Wordley, Dave Archer and Dan Wells combined to set up wing Felise Ah Ling for a try in the corner.
Centre Dan Hayward equalised with an opportunist score for Scottish, but Henley back with a Chris Simmons try, converted by Mark Meehan.
Hawks made it 19-5 in the third quarter when outside centre Angelo Flammia used a strong hand off to touch down and give Meenan another simple conversion.
Some smart handling in midfield left a gap for Scottish fly-half Cody Hall to score under the posts for a try which he converted himself.
Hawks dominated the last quarter, but failed to add to their score.
Henley start their National 2 campaign at home to Cambridge on September 1.
