Jim Smith says striker Gary Twigg can fire Oxford United to success in the Blue Square Premier, but he doesn't want to leave it up to one man again.
United's manager has been happy with the way Twigg (pictured above) has settled in since he joined the U's from Airdrie, for whom he scored 13 goals in all competitions last season.
And he believes United would be playing in the Football League had the Glasgow-born striker been on board last season.
"We have all said that if we'd had him here last year then we'd be in the Football League now," said Smith. "Because he has done ever so well.
"It's up to us now to create the same number of chances for the strikers and for everyone, not just one player, to turn those into goals.
"Gary hasn't got the pace of Yemi (Odubade), but he's a clever player.
"He's got a good left foot and if we create the chances, he'll finish them with a lot higher percentage than we did last year."
