DETAILS have emerged about the structure of the deal which saw Sumrith Thanakarnjanasuth buy the controlling stake in Oxford United.
When it was announced last week, outgoing chairman Darryl Eales revealed he had agreed to some payments being deferred “to enable Tiger (Thanakarnjanasuth) to put more money into the club”.
Now a Charge has been published by Companies House, which records the outstanding amount is £4.2million.
It also shows United are owed payments from transfers during Eales’s time in charge relating to Kemar Roofe, Callum O’Dowda, John Lundstram and Marvin Johnson.
When contacted by the Oxford Mail, Eales, who still owns just under ten per cent of United, said: “As in many deals, there is an element of deferred consideration.
“It was a similar situation when I acquired the club from Ian Lenagan (in 2014).
“As I said last week, I have retained a shareholding, will contribute to funding each year and, more generally, I want to help and support Tiger in enabling the club to progress.”
