IVO Pekalski ended a six-month wait to play for Oxford United as he featured for a development side which drew 2-2 in a friendly away to QPR.
The Swedish midfielder, 27, signed last August for an undisclosed fee from Halmstads.
But he ruptured cruciate knee ligaments in his first training session, which has led to a long recovery.
U's caretaker manager Derek Fazackerley said earlier this month they would be looking to set up a game to give Pekalski a chance to build up his match fitness.
And he managed to get an hour under his belt, alongside Cameron Brannagan - another signing making his first appearance after injury.
Youth team striker Dejon Noel-Williams opened the scoring.
While Rangers equalised, Josh Ashby's pass saw Brannagan put the visitors in front again.
They remained in front until the last kick of the game, when the hosts got back on level terms.
Oxford Utd: Clayton, Berry-Hargreaves, Carroll, Williamson (Carr 46), Bryan, Pekalski (Cowan 60), Ashby, Brannagan (Heap 60), Noel-Williams, James, Hopkins.
