Cheetahs were a whisker away from winning the 2007 Conference League Pairs Championship, finishing runners-up to Boston Barracudas.
Oxford were represented by Jordan Frampton and Lee Smethills, who dropped only one point in their four qualifying races to top Group 2 by a massive nine points.
They were then defeated 7-2 by the Barracudas pair of Paul Cooper and Simon Lambert in the final, with Frampton shedding a chain while in second place.
Boss Peter Oakes said: "We were the class team in our group and were not troubled on our way to the final.
"There was a disparity between the two groups, but we still had to win ours, and Lee and Jordan did that in style.
"But you can't take it away from Boston. They came through a very strong group, so all credit to them.
"They haven't won an awful lot in their time and it's nice to see the silverware getting spread around a bit."
