A BRILLIANT century from Zach Lion-Cachet was the highlight as Oxfordshire Under 13s made it three wins out of three to take top spot at the Taunton Festival.
Lion-Cachet’s brilliant innings came in the final game – an eight-wicket success over Northumberland.
Chasing their opponents’ total of 184-9, Oxon were indebted to Lion-Cachet, who scored 112 not out from 116 balls with 17 fours and one huge six.
In their first match, Oxon scored 168 from their 25 overs against Suffolk, Lion-Cachet top-scoring with 33 and Harry Phillips making 31 from 30 deliveries.
Freddy Selby-Lowndes then took three wickets to reduce their opponents to 128 for a 40-run victory.
Oxon’s other game was a thrilling three-run win over London Schools.
Will Laird (49) and Carrick Dunbar (44no) led the way in Oxon’s 192-5.
Selby-Lowndes was the pick of the Oxon bowlers, taking three wickets as London were bowled out for 189.
l OXFORDSHIRE Girls enjoyed an excellent week with two comfortable wins in Group 2 of the ECB Under 17 County Championship.
Ellie Noble took 3-0 in her spell of just four balls as Oxon dismissed Worcestershire for 54 at Charlbury. Lali Rhydderch also took two wickets.
After losing early wickets, Noble (21no0 steadied the ship to see the hosts home in the 11th over.
Oxon’s match against Northants at the same venue was reduced to 15 overs per side after rain.
Deana Stamp’s 43 not out helped Oxon post 98-2, before the visitors were dismissed for 61.
