A DOMINANT second-half display saw Oxford RL record back-to-back victories in beating South Wales Ironmen 38-18 in Merthyr Tydfil.
The sides were level at the break, but the Blues stormed to a convincing victory to move up to ninth in Kingstone Press League 1.
Oxford took the lead on five minutes when Kane Riley split open the Ironmen defence to ground in the corner for an unconverted try.
They were not ahead for long, though, as Shaun Owens powered over for the hosts, Paul Emanuelli converting to make it 6-4.
Oxford regained the advantage on 15 minutes as Josh Atkinson made the most of a loose ball on the Ironmen goal-line to score.
The hosts replied once again when Yannic Parker caught a cross-field kick and went over. Emanuelli added the extras to make it 12-8.
But Oxford went on to open up a four-point lead, thanks to tries from Casey Canterbury and Stuart Biscomb. Scott Fleming converted the first.
An even first half ended with another Ironmen score, levelling the match at 18-18.
This time Ross Price charged over for his first professional try, Emanuelli converting.
However, the second half proved a different story as Oxford scored 20 unanswered points.
Six minutes after the break, Atkinson scored a breakaway try, converted by Fleming, to make it 24-18.
Daniel Hindmarsh-Takji then took advantage of a loose ball to extend the Blues’ lead.
Oxford put the game beyond Ironmen’s reach when Callum Windley sprinted over on 64 minutes. Fleming converted to extend the lead to 16 points.
Marcus Brooker completed the scoring with a breakaway try on 74 minutes to put the icing on the cake.
