CONOR McAleny is aiming to reach double figures during the run-in after becoming only the fifth player to score multiple hat-tricks for Oxford United in the same season.

The Everton loanee took his tally to an impressive eight goals from nine starts after netting a treble in the 5-1 victory against Bury on Tuesday.

It repeated his feat against Chesterfield last month, but the January signing is in no mood to stop now.

McAleny said: “I still haven’t reached my target, but I’m not that far off.

“Maybe double figures, that’s what I’m going for. You’ve got to set your targets high.”

Only four other players have hit hat-tricks for the U’s in the same season.

He is the first to do so since 1994/95 when Paul Moody hit three trebles, matching Bill Calder’s effort two decades earlier.

John Aldridge is the only player to manage it twice, while the list is completed by his strike partner Billy Hamilton.
