Didcot Phoenix hill climb champion Mark Cox convincingly got the better of his clubmates in the ten-mile time trial championships on the A420 Southmoor course.

Cox's blistering time of 21mins 30secs gave him second place overall, only eight seconds behind sponsored rider Tristan Davenne (PCA Ciclos Uno), who recorded 21.22.

But Cox (pictured) took Didcot's ten-mile title ahead of Phil Brown (21.50), with Paul Lloyd a further 36 seconds back.

  • Didcot Phoenix's Phil Brown knocked 32 seconds off his personal best with a time of 56.12 when coming fifth in the West London CA 25-mile time trial at Aldermaston.

Clubmate Mark Scanlan recorded 59.34 to take 17th place followed by Steve Wright (61.14) in 25th, and Pete Edwards (66.32) in 43rd.

Brown then went close to a club record when recording 1.55.39 over 50 miles in the RTTC Championships at Tempsford, Bedfordshire.

Closer to home, Mick Fountain recorded 2.18.09 in the Oxonian CC Open held over 50 miles on the A420 at Kingston Bagpuize. Fountain bettered this time by nearly five minutes in the Reading CC time trial on the A4 course. His time of 2.13.28 gave him 21st place. Mark Scanlan was 13th in 2.05.31, making him top Didcot rider.
