KANE Hemmings hopes he will get the opportunity to continue his goal-scoring run this afternoon.
Oxford United return to Sky Bet League One action with a trip to struggling Shrewsbury Town.
The striker netted three times in the Emirates FA Cup and Checkatrade Trophy games this week.
Although his goals came against Merstham and a youthful Chelsea side, Hemmings is now eyeing a first league start for more than a month.
The 24-year-old said: “It is down to the gaffer.
“But hopefully I get a chance and the three goals I have already scored this week will put me in good stead.”
United head to Greenhous Meadow on the back of two positive cup results, but are looking for their first league victory since October 15.
Despite facing the league’s bottom side, Hemmings insists the U’s must approach the game with the right attitude.
He said: “You can’t underestimate any team in this league.
“Anyone can beat anyone, it does not matter who you are.
“If you are not at it, nine times out of ten you won’t come away with the result you want.”
