Three former Abingdon School pupils will battle it out in this year’s Cancer Research UK Boat Race.
Following the announcement of the crews yesterday morning, James Cook was named in the Oxford boat, with fellow old Abingdonians Felix Newman and cox Ian Middleton in the Cambridge line-up.
Newman, one of four Cambridge undergraduates, was in the losing 2015 Goldie crew, while Cook and Middleton were in opposing Blue boats.
The Dark Blues, who won both men’s and women’s races last year, are the lighter crews this year.
The men, 9.6kg lighter than Cambridge and looking for a fourth straight victory, are led by president Morgan Gerlak who is seated at three.
The women give away 24.4kg to the Light Blues.
