Felipe Barcelos (21) opened the scoring, before a James Burns own goal doubled the lead on 61 minutes.
Although Ricky Johnson had a penalty saved and Reeko Best pulled a late goal back for the visitors, Banbury held on for a crucial victory.
Wantage Town secured a massive win in their battle against relegation, beating fellow-strugglers Burnham 3-2.
Mark Francis (2) and Sam Barder were on target.
