JONJOE Kenny is aiming to stay at Oxford United for the rest of the season after Everton agreed to extending the teenager’s loan for March.

The right back, who turns 19 this month, has made eight appearances since joining United in January after George Baldock was recalled by MK Dons.

Everton have a policy of only agreeing to such deals on a month-by-month basis, so as it stands Kenny will be with the U’s until just before their Johnstone’s Paint Trophy final at Wembley.

But there is every chance the youth loan could be extended again to include the entire run-in, which is something the former England Under 17 international would welcome.

He said: “I’ve enjoyed every moment and it has made me a much better player.

“I’ve learned a lot from the lads and the gaffer has been brilliant for me, so I’d love to stay until the end of the season.”

He added: “George Baldock is a great full back and he’s playing in the Championship week-in, week-out now.

“Of course they were big shoes to fill, but I’ve come in to do my job and hopefully I’ve done that.

“I want to keep pushing on, getting better and helping the team get promotion.”

Kenny, who will start against York City tonight, has enjoyed facing the contrasting styles which Sky Bet League Two provides.

He said: “You’ve got to find other ways to beat teams, so it’s been great for my development as well.”
