KEMAR Roofe and Jake Wright were due to return o training today, although only one of them is likely to feature in Oxford United's game with York City tomorrow night.

Top scorer Roofe has sat out the last two games to rest a minor groin injury and recharge his batteries.

A hamstring injury has kept skipper Wright out for three games.

Both may be included in the 18-man squad to face the struggling Minstermen at the Kassam Stadium, although Wright will only feature in an emergency.

Michael Appleton, United's head coach, said: "Jake’s expected to train today, which is a bonus.

"I don’t think there will be much involvement tomorrow, he’s the type who even if he’s only had a couple of weeks off, needs quite a few training sessions to get himself back into it.

"It’s more likely for the weekend (Plymouth Argyle away), although we do have the option of having him on the bench tomorrow.

"Roofey is expected to train today, so will play some part on Tuesday I would imagine.

"That's more likely coming off the bench than starting, although we have that option because it was only fatigue around the groin area that he was struggling with."

There is also encouraging news on Ryan Taylor, who is now back running as he bids to overcome a troublesome groin injury.

United are hopeful the striker will make a playing return by the Easter weekend.

More will be known about John Lundstram's ankle injury within the next 48 hours as the swelling goes down.

Appleton said: "The problem is it’s just above the ankle, so every time he plays a pass with his instep it’s right on that area.

"He will be sore for another two or three days. I don’t expect him to have any involvement on Tuesday and he’s 50/50 for the weekend."

The other injury concern is Sam Long, who went for a scan on a hip problem.

United expect to receive the results this afternoon.
