FELIPE Barcelos and Ricky Johnson scored as Banbury United beat leaders Winchester City 2-1 to go top of the table.

The Puritans are now a point clear in Evo-Stik Southern League Division 1 South & West.

Banbury took the lead on 25 minutes when Barcelos slotted home.

And it was 2-0 on 42 minutes when Johnson scored from close range.

Leam Howards then saw an effort blocked on the line.

The visitors scored on 79 minutes through Warren Bentley’s header and could have equalised when Jamie Thoroughgood missed from five yards late on.

However, Banbury held on.

George Seacole’s brace helped North Leigh close to within a point of the play-offs with a 2-0 win at Larkhall.

The opener came on 30 minutes when Lewis White headed the ball into the box and Seacole clipped home.

Goal No 2 arrived ten minutes later when Seacole latched on to Jamie Cook’s pass and fired into the net.

The Millers were more than comfortable after the break.

REECE Bayliss’ late goal helped Ardley United beat Brimscombe & Thrupp 2-1 in the Uhlsport Hellenic League Premier Division.

Billy Jones had put the hosts ahead, before Lewis Strafford equalised for Ardley.

Matt Peake-Pijner and Matt Woodley scored as Oxford City Nomads edged out Abingdon United 2-1.

Cameron Hawtin had given Abingdon the lead.
