City of Oxford swimmers collected 50 medals, including 16 golds, when finishing second of the 11 visiting clubs in the Cardiff Closed Invitational Meet.

The club, fresh from their success in the Oxfordshire & North Bucks County Championships, landed the Dave Heller Cup for relays.

Promising eight-year-old girls Zara Porter and Eleni Ioannou were in top form.

Porter won golds for 50m butterfly, 50m and 100m breaststroke, while Ioannou triumphed in the 100m backstroke and collected bronzes for 50m butterfly and 100m breaststroke.

In the ten-year old group, Abigail Hobbins, ten, won gold in the 50m breaststroke and bronze in the 100m backstroke.

The 11-year age group, saw Ellen Tranter take a gold in the50m butterfly and silver for 50m breaststroke.

For the boys, Joe Watkiss, ten, bagged golds in the 100m breaststroke and 200m IM plus a silver for 50m breaststroke.

On fire for the 11-year-old boys, were Charles Pauling – with four golds in the 50m breaststroke, 50m butterfly, 100m breaststroke and 200m IM – and Ben Holmes winning the 50m and 100m freestyle and 100m backstroke.

Diego Bravo, 12, claimed gold in the 50m freestyle and bronze in the breaststroke.
