OXFORD United are expecting to conclude the formalities to extend Jonjoe Kenny’s loan stay.
The 18-year-old has made seven appearances since agreeing an initial one-month deal in January after fellow right back George Baldock was recalled by MK Dons.
Kenny's stay expires after tomorrow’s game at AFC Wimbledon, but everything is in place to secure another 28-day loan.
Michael Appleton has been pleased with the Everton youngster's progress, particularly after recovering from a poor display in defeat to Accrington Stanley last weekend to star in Tuesday’s 4-1 win at Exeter City.
The U’s boss said: “There’s no doubt he had a tough time on Saturday. I think it was an eye-opener for him.
“But he’s an 18-year-old lad who is being exposed to Saturday-Tuesday games.
“The way he did bounce back and performed on Tuesday is testament to the boy’s character."
“We’ve been in discussions with Everton, I speak to (Everton’s professional development co-ordinator) Joe Royle regularly.
“He was at the game on Saturday and we expect it to be extended for a month."
Appleton has yet to make a decision over winger Zeli Ismail, whose loan from Wolverhampton Wanderers expires after Tuesday night’s home game against York City.
