Kidlington look to take another leap towards glory tomorrow when they travel to Bowers & Pitsea in the quarter-finals of the FA Vase.

Victory tomorrow would put the Greens just a two-legged semi-final away from a place at Wembley.

The prospect has captured the attention of the locals, with a large contingent of fans expected to travel to Essex.

“We’ve been well backed in every round and we expect to be well supported again this weekend,” said Nick Duval, chairman of the club's trustees.

“I know lots are travelling down there for the game, we’ve had lots of interest on social media and the players are all absolutely buzzing for it.”

Although Ryan Brooks and Eric Odhiambo are out injured, Kidlington make the trip boosted by the return of defender Ben Weedon from injury, with Joel Meade and Jimmy Deabill also returning to the squad.

Standing in their way are Bowers & Pitsea, sixth in the Essex Senior League – the equivalent level to the Uhlsport Hellenic League Premier Division, following their 2-1 triumph over Ipswich Wanderers after extra time in Wednesday’s fifth round replay.

The hosts have already claimed some notable scalps, including Hellenic League Premier leaders Flackwell Heath, but come up against a Kidlington side with 11 wins from their last 12 games in all competitions.

And if the Greens’ superb form holds true again this weekend, Duval will start to cast glances at a potential dream date at Wembley in the final.

He said: “Could you imagine it? A village like Kidlington at Wembley.

“I’m a big Oxford United fan, so I’m definitely going there once this season, but to do it with Kidlington also would be fantastic.

“I believe that if you don’t aspire to greatness you’ll never achieve anything.

“We’ve got ourselves into a fantastic position and you just never know what might happen.”
