North Oxford Conservative Club snatched the Kidlington Indoor Winter League title from under the noses of Dave’s Diamonds in dramatic circumstances.

Going into the last night of league fixtures, Dave’s Diamonds were a point ahead of North Oxford.

But the leaders only drew 3-3 with King’s Arms, despite a 14 from top doll-scorer John Townsend.

So North Oxford needed four points from the last match of the night against Shirl’s Sexy Girls to claim the crown.

After winning the first leg, North Oxford could not match Shirl’s target of 17 in the second.

In the last leg Shirl’s set 14. North Oxford’s last man Phil Allen needed four to win, and got it with his final stick, giving his team the title on doll difference.
