DANNY Hylton was buoyed to see Oxford United share the goals after top-scorer Kemar Roofe was forced off against Morecambe with injury.

More on the groin problem should be known today, although it is likely to make him a doubt for tomorrow’s clash at home to Sky Bet League Two leaders Northampton Town.

Roofe netted his 19th goal of the campaign, but it was 1-1 when he limped off ten minutes into the second half.

In his place others stepped up to the plate and after Shaun Miller saw red, United eased to a 4-2 win thanks to goals from John Lundstram, Hylton and Jordan Bowery.

Hylton does not expect Roofe to be ruled out for long, but the forward felt it was a good sign for United to finish so well without their talisman.

He said: “Roofey has been on fire, but he’s gone off and we scored three more.

“We’re not a one-man team. Roofey’s been fantastic all season, but we have a fantastic squad and whoever plays can do the business.”

Hylton’s close-range effort was his ninth of the season – and his third goal in four days.

As always United’s No 10 was keen to share the spotlight, but did enjoy the poacher’s finish.

He said: “They are the best ones, aren’t they?

“It was a good ball in and Mulls (Johnny Mullins) got in front of his man. He said he passed it, but I’m not so sure.

“I always just try to give my all.

“Hopefully I can keep scoring, but as long as I can bring something to the team I’m delighted.”
