KIDLINGTON 2nd's day started badly and then got progressively worse - but at least they avoided defeat at Abingdon Vale 2nd.
The visitors travelled expecting a 1.30pm start, half an hour later than the actual start time for Cherwell League matches.
As a result, they arrived at Hales Meadow after 12.45pm, Vale made the most of a league rule which allows them to forfeit the toss.
Kidlington duly elected to field and lived to regret the decision as the home side amassed 260-3 in an innings reduced by rain to 48 overs.
Skipper Paul Edwards top-scored with 81 not out after Michael Howe-Davies (62) and Phil Evans (45) and laid the foundations.
Kidlington were never in the hunt despite the best efforts of Eddie Willmot (38) and Chris East (37), but managed to scramble their way to 133-9.
Securing the draw was tempered by the knowledge they travelled back home without a single point.
Tiddington 2nd had reached 55-3 from 15 overs and one ball when rain ended their home match against Great & Little Tew 2nd.
