City of Oxford’s Natasha Fenton had reason to celebrate after landing a medal double at the English Schools’ Association’s Inter-Divisional Championships in Sunderland.
Competing for the South East Division, Fenton followed her gold in the junior girls 200m breaststroke in 2.41.76, with a silver medal in the 100m breaststroke in 1.16.37.
Emily Nisbet took bronze in the intermediate girls 200m butterfly (2.19.80) and was part of both the 4x100m freestyle and 4x100m medley relay teams who struck bronze.
David Murphy completed City’s super medal haul by taking gold in the senior boys 100m breaststroke, touching home in 1.03.93.
Meanwhile, City of Oxford’s Fabian Whitbread narrowly missed out on a bronze medal at the Scottish National Open Championships in Tolcross, Glasgow.
Whitbread came fourth in a time of 4mins 33.03secs in the 400m individual medley.
He also qualified for finals of the 200m IM (2.08.25) and 200m breaststroke (2.23.41).
David Murphy stormed in to win the B final of the 200m breaststroke in 2.20.82 and finished ninth in the 50m breaststroke final in 29.42, taking his brother Alex Murphy’s South east regional 16-year-old age group record in the process.
Callum Smart also made two finals and continued the record-breaking form as he took the South East Regional age group records (14 years) in both the 200m breaststroke (2.25.21) and 100m breaststroke in a time of 1.06.78.
Other finalists included Ellie Millington (100m backstroke, 1.07.20 & 50m butterfly, 29.19), Nisbet (400m IM, 5.05.17), Annie Sharp (200m backstroke, 2.22.42) and Maia Little (100m breaststroke, 1.17.00).
Rosie Bancroft was fourth in the multi-classification 50m freestyle event.
City of Oxford won the trophy for the overall top club at Maxwell’s June level 3 meet at the Aquavale, Aylesbury.
The squad put in an exceptional performance to bring home a big haul of medals.
