ALEXIS Canter will fulfil his dream of playing at Wimbledon after being handed a wildcard into the main draw of the Junior Championships.
The 17-year-old, from Long Wittenham, received the news from the Lawn Tennis Association yesterday.
Canter, is 110th in the ITF junior rankings and will play in his first grand slam, which begins on Saturday.
Having had ambitions of playing at Wimbledon ever since he picked up a racket at the age of five, Canter cannot wait to play on the grass at SW19.
“It is fantastic – it has always been my dream to play at Wimbledon,” he said.
“To play on the same courts as Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic, who played the junior events, is very special.”
Canter added: “I know if I don’t let my level drop I can do really well.”
