ASHTON Patrick, from Oxford Sport & Traditional Martial Arts, collected a special award at the FEKO International Open junior karate championships at Ponds Forge, Sheffield.
The nine-year-old not only won the gold medal in his age group competition, but was also presented with the Alan Carruthers Memorial Cup for his performances.
Patrick was one of seven members of the Oxford-based club competing – and this included three brothers.
Adam Suardi, ten, won bronze in the 10-12 years’ section, while his younger siblings, Noah, nine and Isaac, six, gained national experience at a young age, as did seven-year-old Hope Jacob.
Oxford’s Harry Langsbury, 15, took bronze in the 15-17 age group, while Owen Philips, six, did likewise in the up to seven-years section.
Coach Phil Patrick, father of Ashton, said: “I’m proud of the performances throughout the whole squad.”
