OXFORDSHIRE have named a team packed with medal potential for the English Schools’ Track & Field Championships at the Gateshead International Stadium on July 10 and 11.
The 25-strong line-up includes an unprecedented nine medallists from previous championships.
They are headed by Headington School’s dual gold medallist Simi Fajemisin.
The winner of the intermediate girls’ long jump for the last two years, she can expect a tougher test as she steps up to the senior age group.
Rebecca Keating will defend her senior girls’ hammer title, where her rivals will include fellow Henley College student Amy Herrington, who claimed intermediate silver last year.
In the same age group, Oxon girls’ captain Kathryn Woodcock will be aiming to convert successive discus silvers into gold.
Abingdon School’s Christian von Eitzen will be looking to add to his tally of 800m gold and bronze.
Nick Wiltshire (St Birinus, Didcot) is among the leading contenders for the junior boys’ 1500m.
