CUMNOR captain Matt Lake says there is genuine excitement around the club ahead of their Davidstow Village Cup fifth-round tie at Marshfield on Sunday.
They advanced to the national rounds with a five-wicket win over last year’s runners-up Great & Little Tew in the Oxfordshire final.
The showpiece at Lord’s on September 13 is still a long way off, but Lake believes carrying Oxfordshire’s hopes will benefit Cumnor.
“Everyone is really excited and it is good for the club going forward,” he said.
“It is a big responsibility following what Tew did last year, but they have passed on their knowledge of the competition and we are looking forward to representing Oxfordshire.
“Hopefully it will bring the whole club together and if we can keep playing good cricket everyone will be happy.”

Teenagers Max Mannering and Harry Ackland are included in the squad after starring against Tew.
Mannering, 18, took 5-23, while Ackland, 17, hit an unbeaten 51, but Lake insists he cannot expect them to replicate that this weekend.
“We can’t rely on Max and Harry and everyone has got an important role.
“It has been a really good season so far and everyone in the side has contributed at some point.”
Wicket-keeper Callum Russell returns, but leg-spinner Jamie Curtis is unavailable and John Williams is a doubt (shoulder).
Cumnor (v Marshfield, away): from Lake (capt), Russell, Fitzjohn, Washbourn-Calcutt, Ackland, Dale, Warner, Williams, Lee, Thompson, Mannering, Jones.
