BICESTER Town boss Eddie Nix was delighted with the turn-out as the club held their first training session since reforming, writes TOM ST JOHN.
The town have been without a senior football team since the club folded in 2011, due to a dispute with landlords Bicester Sports Association.
They will play in Division 1 East of the Uhlsport Hellenic League, groundsharing with Ardley United.
But after Bicester’s first open training session at Pingle Field, Nix was satisfied with how things went.
“I was happy with the turn-out and pleased with the performance levels,” he said.
“Obviously as we continue through the summer, we’ll be making the sessions harder.
“The intensity will get higher and we’ll hopefully be in the best possible shape at the start of the season.”
He added: “So far, there has certainly been a lot more positives than negatives.
“The buzz is back in the town and it’s back among the players.
“Believe me when I say, that (joint manager) John (Prpa) and I are so proud to be the managers of this club, our hometown club.
“People don’t realise how lucky we are.”
Bicester will be hosting more open training sessions every Tuesday and Thursday at 6.45pm at Pingle Field.
Anybody who believes they can play at a Hellenic League standard is encouraged to turn up.
