Oxfordshire's hopes of progressing in the Middleton Cup are over after they suffered a crushing 146-97 defeat by Surrey at Croydon.
Oxon went into the game knowing a win would put them right back in contention to top South Group Section B.
But things could hardly have gone worse as they lost on five rinks and now face a battle to avoid finishing bottom of the table.

Baden Sparkes’s side of Mick Nash, Paul Comley and Colin Whitehead were always struggling to contain Nathan Beeson as they went down 26-15.
Mark Charlett’s four of Dean May, Shaun Claridge and Jason King trailed Phil McDonnell by just two shots after 15 ends, but failed to win another end as they were hammered 29-13.
In a new set-up, Ray Gaskins skipped his rink of Keith Holloway, Andy Martin and Ian Henwood to wins on eight ends in a 22-14 defeat by Simon Clarke.
Ian Snowdon’s four of Jon Philpott, Nathan Lewis and Gary May had to replay several ends and were still on the green half an hour after the first rink finished as they went down 23-16 to Mick Sigamoney.
