BLACK Swan pairing Eamon Hanlon and Mark Burke will meet Ian and David Bowler, of Littlemore British Legion, in the final of the Lower Section pairs.

They will face off at the Greene King Oxford & District League’s finals night at the Kassam Stadium on Friday, October 16.

Hanlon and Burke comfortably advanced through the first two rounds with 2-0 victories over King & Queen’s Bob Shepherd and John Cleaton, and Donnington Club A’s Jamie Smith and Wayne Grey.

However, they were tested to their limits in the last four against Mike Rowe and Terry Weller, of North Oxford Conservative Club.

The North Oxford pair set every leg played, and in the opener neither a three or onestick shoot-out could seperate them.

Hanlon and Burke won it 5-4 on six sticks.

The second was as close as the first, with the Black Swan duo edging it on six sticks 4-3.

Littlemore’s Bowlers started off with a 2-0 victory over the Blackbird’s Steve Buckle and Yorkie Finney.

Despite losing the opener against Wayne Townsend and Marcus Copelin, of Red Lion Cassington, they took the second on one stick, and a six in the decider saw them through.

Black Swan’s Tony O’Brien and Trevor Jones were their semi-final opponents and they were pushed all the way to a third leg.

Chasing a set of five, the Bowlers hit three dolls apiece to seal victory.
