Banbury's Marlon Gray-Deacon gained a unanimous points victory against Thames Valley BC’s Tom Soanes in a light-welterweight bout in a tiny ring at Thatcham.
Soanes started quickly with heavy hooks to the body and head of Gray-Deacon, whose tight defence absorbed most on his gloves and arms.
One uppercut in particular shook Gray-Deacon, but he saw the first round out.
In the second round, Gray-Deacon picked off the tiring, but still onrushing Soames with strong clean hooks Soanes was caught throughout the final round with fast combinations and was happy to hear the final bell, when Gray-Deacon was able to celebrate an emphatic victory.
Bicester light welterweight Ant Miller knocked out Swindon’s Ronnie Smith in the second round at the ‘Rumble in the Cotswolds’ fight night at Chipping Norton.
