Lucy Brown kept her Wimbledon hopes alive after battling to a three-set victory over Francesca Stephenson in the wildcard play-offs at Aorangi Park.
The 22-year-old from Oxford earned a 7-5, 4-6, 6-2 win over fourth seed Stephenson.
She is now two victories away from a place in next week’s qualifying tournament for the Championships at Roehampton.
If she beats Jodie Burrage in the last eight today in the second match on court 21, Brown will face either second seed Naomi Cavaday or Emily Arbuthnott this afternoon for one of two wildcard spots in Monday’s draw at Roehampton.
