LEE Thompson was in tremendous form as he whipped off 14 dolls to help The Red Lion A Eynsham beat The Woodman 3-0 in the Greene King Oxford & District League, writes ANDY BEAL.

Thompson’s 5-4-5 earned Red Lion their third win of the season, while Woodman fell six points behind leaders Six Bells C Kidlington in the Premier Section.

After winning the first leg 22-18, Red Lion’s Keith Powell hit the four dolls needed for a 2-0 lead.

In the third, Red Lion set a formidable 29, with The Woodman falling short in their reply of 18.

Jon Townsend hit his fourth six of the season in a 14-doll haul (6-5-3) for The Six Bells C to defeat Black Prince A 2-1.

Bells won the opener 26-20, but were pegged back in the second.

In the decider, Black Prince set only 21, which Bells passed with 24.

New Club A got back to winning ways with a 3-0 victory over Garsington Sports A to top Section 1.

The first leg was decided on one stick after it was tied 24-24.

New Club then wrapped up maximum points in the next two as Ronnie Wade led the way with 13 dolls.

Steve Bayliss hit a baker’s dozen to guide Rose Hill Club A to a 3-0 win over Kennington Club and move them to the summit of Section 2.

Steve Walton also hit 13 for Kennington, but could not prevent his side losing 25-21, 23-17, 25-22.

After winning their opening four games, The Bullnose Morris A are in freefall as they suffered a third successive defeat.

Vikings B beat them 2-1 to move off the foot of the table by taking the last two legs 15-13, 19-16.

Tony Bull whipped off 13 dolls (5-4-4) for Florence Park A, but it was in vain as they lost 3-0 at home to The Ampleforth Arms B.

Kevin Masterson hit a rare six for Vikings Sports A in their clash at Chequers C in Section 3, but it was not enough to prevent a 2-1 loss.

Section 4 leaders Six Bells A Kidlington survived a scare at North Oxford Cons Club.

After winning the first leg, they were set 16 in the next and the Bell’s anchorman Alan Wood, needing only one to win, failed to trouble the doll to send it into a three-stick shoot out, which they just edged.

The Con Club gained a well deserved point in the final leg 15-14.

Jamie Smith clanged off ten dolls (3-4-3) as Donnington Club A took all three legs at home to Brill Sports Club A.
