OXFORD United have been handed a trip to Brentford in the Capital One Cup first round.
The clash against the Bees, who finished fifth in the Sky Bet Championship last season, is one of the toughest Michael Appleton’s men could have been given for the opening stage.
United, champions in 1986, have not visited Griffin Park since a Football League Trophy tie in October 2005, when they won a penalty shoot-out following a 1-1 draw.
In last season's League Cup, the U’s sprung a surprise in the first round, coming from behind to win 2-1 at Bristol City.
They came close to a bigger scalp in round two, where West Bromwich Albion scraped through via a penalty shoot-out at The Hawthorns.
The ties will be played in the week commencing August 10, following the opening round of Sky Bet League Two campaign.
