PAUL Barrow is North Oxford’s new club champion, winning the title by four strokes.
A terrific first round of 69 put him in charge and although he could not quite repeat the feat in the second round, a 73 was more than enough for Barrow, who plays off a handicap of one, to lift the trophy.
His nearest challenger was Michael Tippett, who climbed up the leaderboard with a second round 70, following up his 76.
David Titcombe (77 and 72) was three shots further back in third.
The President’s Putter, which is the handicap competition, went to David Scott.
It was the 21-handicapper’s first trophy win since joining the club in 2009.
The nett total of 134 was five better than runner-up Titcombe. He pipped John Nicholson, whose nett 67 was the pick of the first round scores, on countback.
