BARRY Ruffels’s 15-doll haul proved in vain for Garsington Sports A as they were chopped down by The Woodman in the Greene King Oxford & District League, writes ANDY BEAL.
A 2-1 defeat to Woodman leaves Garsington bottom of the Premier Section.
The opening leg was tight as Woodman won it by the odd doll 21-20, but Garsington levelled, Ruffels hitting a six, with an impressive 31.
A set of 22 was never enough in the decider as Woodman comfortably claimed victory with 26.
Six Bells C Kidlington remain unbeaten in the Premier Section after a 3-0 home win over Black Prince B.
Jon Townsend led the way with 15 dolls and was supported by Roger Goodall with 14 as they won 24-21, 27-25, 30-25.

Mark Washington was in fine form for Ampleforth Arms A with 13 dolls as they edged out Gladiators 2-1.
Ampleforth won the first leg at a canter 29-19, before Gladiators took the second 25-24.
Gladiators set the third with 23, but Washington clanged off the dolls needed to win it by two.
New Club A lost their first game of the season in Section 1 with a 3-0 defeat to Black Prince A.
In Section 3, Crown Chalgrove remain unbeaten after a 3-0 win at home to Queens Head.
Kenny Adams led the way with a dozen dolls.
Chequers A remain rooted to the foot of the table after their fourth defeat of the season, at Vikings Sports A.
They set 13 in the first, and in reply Vikings left anchor man Pete Kennett four to win the leg, which he duly achieved with a stick to spare.
Chequers levelled in the next 17-13, but a reverse of that score in the decider gave Vikings the win.
Rose Hill Club B scored 46 dolls to hosts Masons Arms A’s 45, but were still beaten 2-1 in Section 4.
The visitors won the opener 18-15, but lost the second on three sticks after it was tied 17-17.
Masons wrapped up victory in the final leg 13-11.
In Section 5, Chequers B got back to winning by defeating Littlemore British Legion 3-0.
Chequers hit only 11 in the first leg, but Littlemore fell one short as their chase was not helped with five of their players blobbing.
Steve Jenkins was top dog with 11 dolls as Chequers went on to win the next two 18-14, 14-12.
Joe Beauchamp hit a six for North Oxford CC as they defeated hosts Vikings Sports C 3-0.
The top two clashed in Section 6 and it was leaders Six Bells D Kidlington that returned victorious from Rose Hill Club C.
After taking the opener, they had to rely on a three stick shoot out in the next after it was tied 13-13.
Rose Hill earned a point in the final game.
