Witney & District FA referee Mal Edmunds blew time on his 20-year career as he took charge of his final match, the Division 4 clash between Eynsham A and Wychwood Forest last weekend, writes ANTHONY BARLOW.
The visitors won the encounter 4-1, thanks to a brace apiece from Callum Kirke and Noel Phillips.
Zac Sheffield scored for Eynsham, but it wasn’t enough as the away side secured a thirdplaced finish.
Respected for his firm, but fair approach to games, Edmunds struck a chord with the players, young and old alike.
He was famous for his catchphrase: “I don’t kick your ball, so don’t blow my whistle”.
