Koree Britton insists that he and his teammates will not be out for revenge when London Welsh face Saracens tomorrow, writes SIMON WILLIAMS.
The hooker was part of the Exiles’ team that lost 78-7 at Allianz Park last month, but, while he admits that the scale of the defeat hurt at the time, the result is now forgotten and all the focus is purely on winning the game.
Britton said: “It is never nice when you lose by that sort of score, but it was quite a long time ago. We have improved since then and look forward, going into the game.”
The former England U20 international, who played in two Junior World Cups, is battling with Nathan Morris for the No 2 jersey.
This is because Welsh’s three other hookers – Nathan Vella, Matthew Dobson and Nathan Taylor – are ruled out with injury.
Britton was a replacement for Welsh against Lyon in their European Challenge Cup defeat against Lyon last week and came off the bench to score the home side’s second try to set up a grandstand finish, though the Exiles ultimately lost 17-10.
It was Britton’s first try for Welsh, but he played it down.
“We were building pressure and I was the last piece of the jigsaw, and I just went over. There was an opportunity and I put my head down,” he said.
