OXFORD Hawks Ladies made the early pace and hung on to complete a 3-2 victory at home to Conference East side St Albans in their friendly contest.
It was Hawks’ penultimate game before their Conference West programme resumes on February 7, but they treated it as a league game.
With Bex Oakes and Takara Haines bossing the midfield, Hawks took command and led 2-0 thanks to goals from Hie Sawyer and Becky Odlin.
St Albans pulled back a goal before half-time, but Hawks restored their two-goal margin in the second half when Becky Hibbert scrambled the ball in.
A world-class save by Hawks’ keeper Ria Male denied St Albans, before they eventually pulled back a goal.
Bicester recorded a 1-0 victory at home to lowly Oxford University 2nd in Trysports League Premier Division 1.
The only goal came early on when Hannah Newell finished well after Ella West’s run down the wing.
The students fought hard and only a fine save from Bicester keeper Jo Underhill prevented them grabbing a point.
