OXFORDSHIRE’S Eddie Pepperell reflected on equalling his best European Tour finish after claiming fourth place in the Commercial Bank Qatar Masters in Doha.
The 24-year-old Abingdon ace ended on 16 under par to finish three shots off South Africa’s Branden Grace, who captured his sixth European Tour title on 19 under – one stroke clear of Scotland’s Marc Warren.
Pepperell, who picked up £79,206 and now stands 18th in the Race To Dubai, was just a shot behind Austria’s Bernd Wiesberger, who took third.
The Frilford Heath star said: “It is a good week. Sixteen under is a good result.
“I think that is my best-ever tournament finish in terms of par, and if someone had said to me at the weekend you are going to shoot 12 under then I would have taken it.”
Pepperell shot a 67 in his final round, and he added: “I did not play fantastically well today to be honest.
“I hung in there and so not to make too any bogies and shoot five under I think was credit to my putting and my short game.
“I did not quite hit enough good shots to make enough birdies.”
