Tom Newey and David Hunt are expected to come to an agreement which will see the out-of-favour defenders leave Oxford United before the end of the month.
Despite the team’s struggles on the pitch, U’s boss Michael Appleton has not been tempted to recall the experienced full backs.
Both have spent time out on loan this season, with Hunt’s stay at Barnet ongoing.
And Appleton believes the club will come to an arrangement with the pair to terminate their contracts, which expire in the summer.
Speaking yesterday, he said: “I’m expecting Tom Newey either today or tomorrow to agree on a settlement agreement.
“David Hunt is still out on loan, which goes on until the end of the month.
“We’ll speak to Hunty between now and the end of next week and see if we can come to a settlement.”
Hunt has made 11 appearances for Barnet since joining in October and the Vanarama Conference leaders look his most likely destination for the rest of the campaign.
