PREMIER League striker Charlie Austin has a new goal after becoming a racehorse owner at an Oxfordshire stables.
The Queens Park Rangers hot-shot has set up a company, Excel Racing, with business partner Paul Fisher.
And now they have purchased an unnamed Lawman filly, to be trained by Eve Johnson Houghton at Blewbury, near Didcot.
Racing fan Austin, 25, has joined her Woodway yard after being recommended by Lambourn trainer Warren Greatrex, with whom Excel Racing already have horses.
Johnson Houghton said: “It is great to get someone high-profile and young.
“Sadly Renee Robeson, who was one of our old owners, died last week, but all owners are fabulous.
“Excel Racing are a great outfit, who are very enthusiastic and are looking to enjoy their racing and expand their interests, so I am very hopeful that we can have a long, happy and successful relationship with them.”
With 13 goals this season, Austin is the third highest scorer in the Premier League, and has become a candidate for the England squad.
Johnson Houghton added of the filly: “I am very excited. She will probably start off May to June time and we will take it from there.”
