Abingdon teenager Alexis Canter saw his chances of singles glory dashed at the ITF Junior Grade 2 tournament in Delhi – but he had the consolation of claiming the doubles crown.
The 16-year-old second seed’s challenge came to an end in the semi-finals with a 6-4, 6-4 defeat by Taipei’s Cing-Yang Meng, the No 8 seed.
However, he had better fortune in the doubles as the No 1 seeds with Japan’s Yuya Ito.
They teamed up to beat fourth seeds Alberto Lim, of the Philippines, and Meng 6-2, 6-3 in the final to take the title.
