CALLUM O’Dowda is hoping the identity of Oxford United’s upcoming opponents can give him a boost.
The 19-year-old struggled for form early in the campaign, but a good performance as a substitute in the 1-1 draw at Southend United, tomorrow’s visitors to the Kassam Stadium, was a launchpad to a strong run in the side.
He followed it up with his first senior goal in the following game at Exeter City, who visit United next weekend.
O’Dowda put himself in contention to play tomorrow thanks to a decent display in the goalless draw at Dagenham & Redbridge last Saturday.

Latest United news:
The winger from Kidlington believes playing well against the next two sides United face will help him deliver.
He said: “At Southend I remember coming on as a sub there and I have good memories, then Exeter, where I scored my first goal.
“It was the same when I played against Plymouth (last month), with the memory of playing well there before you have the same mentality.
“Hopefully I can do the same again.”
United go into Saturday’s clash in need of a result after losing their last two at home.
Head coach Michael Appleton said last week the mood at the Kassam Stadium meant he had not played youngster Josh Ashby in an effort to protect him.
But O’Dowda, whose name was sung by the home fans during his purple patch in September, has no issues with home games.
He said: “I don’t see a fear of playing at the Kassam.
“When I made my debut it’s just been brilliant ever since playing there and I can’t wait to get on the pitch.”
