MICHAEL Raynes and Junior Brown are close to completing moves from Oxford United to Mansfield Town.
The Oxford Mail understands only the final paperwork is required for the pair to make the switch on free transfers, which it was hoped would be completed yesterday but has dragged into today.
Raynes almost joined Hartlepool United last week before the move fell through, but yesterday his agent tweeted the centre back was heading for Field Mill.
Latest United news:
Brown is also on the verge of moving, after spending five weeks on loan at the Stags under player/manager Adam Murray, a former United midfielder.
Elsewhere, Joe Riley is expected to train with Bolton Wanderers today while he weighs up a decision about whether he returns on loan to Oxford United.
The right back returned to his parent club at the weekend after the half-season deal expired.
United are very keen to secure a new loan for the rest of the season, but they have competition from other clubs who have been alerted following his strong form.
Riley, who is out of contract at Bolton this summer, met manager Neil Lennon on Monday to discuss his future.
The U’s were still in touch yesterday, but a decision has not yet been made, so he is due to train with the squad as normal today.
