Wantage Tn 0
Wantage Town’s wretched run in Evo-Stik Southern League Division 1 South & West continued with a seven-goal thrashing at trailblazing leaders Merthyr Town.
Daniel Barry’s side have now gone ten league games without a win, losing nine and picking up just one point out of the last 30.
The Alfredians fell behind after ten minutes when Kerry Morgan crossed for Ian Traylor to glance a header into the net.
Morgan was again the supplier for Merthyr’s second goal three minutes later as his diagonal ball was fired first time by Guillermo Bauza across keeper Gareth Tucker and inside the far post.

Six minutes later it was 3-0, with Morgan cutting inside the penalty area from the left and curling a shot into the far top corner.
Merthyr seemed to be able to score at will, and Wantage fell further behind when Jarrad Wright beat two men on a run from midfield before shooting past Tucker.
To add to Wantage’s woes, they lost Jake Johns and Adam Doyle to injuries in the first half.
Tucker pushed Bauza’s shot onato a post early in the second half.
But shortly afterwards Traylor had a simple task to make it 5-0 when a free-kick was headed back across the area to him by Jarrad Wright.
It was only the woodwork which was preventing Wantage suffering a bigger drubbing as Kayne McLaggon headed Morgan’s cross against a post, before Traylor and Ryan Green rattled the bar with headers.
Substitute Ryan Posser then almost scored when he chipped the ball over Tucker from close range, only to see his effort somehow cleared off the line.
But the Merthyr man wasn’t to be denied for long as he slipped past a defender and cut inside, before letting fly with a shot, which was deflected over Tucker and into the net.
Merthyr registered seven goals in a home match for the third time this season with Traylor wrapping up his third hat-trick of the campaign with a near-post header from Morgan’s corner late on.
