KENNINGTON Kevin Godfrey saw off Vikings’ Alan Oliver on aggregate in the preliminary round of the Oxford & District Association’s men’s individual competition at Headington Conservative Club.
Godfrey ran out the table in the first leg, apart from the last ball, scoring 12,990 to put himself in a firm position.
Oliver managed to win leg two with a score of 5,530, but it was not enough.
In round one of the Off The Spot singles competition at Headington, Phil McFarland (Berinsfield) beat Dave Tooke (Didcot CC) after his opponent lost more than he scored.

Pauline Withey beat Masons Alan Lowe 4,960-3,180 at Vikings Club, while Steven Sheard defeated his Kennington teammate Mark Trafford 6,750-3,650.
The opening round of the Threes competition, played at Masons, saw Vikings’ Pete Ewins and Mike Jones win both games and Bob Allsworth one in their 5-1 victory over Marlborough Club.
League action starts up again tonight with Section 1 champions West Oxford Democrats Club hosting Berinsfield.
