WOMEN'S SUPER LEAGUE
A TWO-goal burst in as many minutes helped Oxford United Women come from behind to win 2-1 at Watford in Division 2 on Sunday, writes MATTHEW BRUCE.
Megan Wynne had put the home side in front, but goals from Lauren Allison and substitute Gemma Simmonds handed victory to the U’s.
The visitors arguably shaded a first half of few chances and should have led, but Allison failed to make a decent connection with Katie Stanley’s deep cross to the back post.
And it appeared they were going to be punished for not taking their chances when Wynne put the hosts ahead after 66 minutes.

She seized on Oxford defender Jemma Connor-Iommi’s square pass across goal before rolling the ball into the empty net.
But the U’s hit back, levelling ten minutes later when Allison volleyed home a delightful floated ball over the top, which caught out the hosts’s defence.
And they completed the comeback just moments later, when substitute Simmonds fired past the Watford keeper from close range as United again broke devastatingly.
The win puts Oxford four points ahead of bottom side London Bees with two matches to play.
Oxford United: Lambourne, Nichol, Osborne-Ricketts, Chivers, Connor-Iommi, Hines, Nutman, Allison, Low, Stanley, Franklin-Fraiture. Subs not used: Pickett, Simmonds, King. Attendance: 105.
