BURFORD moved clear in Division 1 of the Shaw Gibbs Oxfordshire Foursomes League following a whitewash at home to Feldon Valley.

The defending champions were convincing 3-0 winners, with none of the matches getting past the 16th green.

Their best-performing pairing came in the third game, where Simon Hopkins and Richard Connor won 5 & 4 against Mick Abbotts and Ken Smith.

In their previous match, Burford won 2-1 at The Oxfordshire, whose title hopes took a further dent on Saturday with a defeat by the same scoreline at Ellesborough.

The visitors’ point came via Alex and Andy Stubbs, who finished one up against Phil Cuthbert and Stefan Williams.
